Moving to the country is a big step for many people. Access to suitable housing aids in the attraction and retention of regionally-based employees. GROH has a large network of housing services and long-term experience in meeting the housng needs of Government employees, allowing you to focus on your core areas of business.

To ensure the availability of housing for Government employees, GROH works with departments to determine accommodation requirements on an annual basis. GROH is also now determining departments' longer-term priorities and using departmental advice in planning future housing acquisitions and disposals. This process allows GROH to optimise the value of existing assets and achieve the most cost-effective and satisfactory housing outcomes for all departments and their employees. A forward planning approach helps GROH to more effectively secure adequate housing stocks for the future.
If you have identified a need for GROH housing, the first step is to notify GROH of your requirements:
• How long will the house be required?
• What type of housing is required?
• How many occupants will there be?
You will also need to confirm your agency's commitment to funding the cost of this housing.
To apply for non-planned GROH housing, please contact your local GROH representative.
Alternatively, download this Application Form directly from the website and fax to your local GROH representative.
For planned accommodation requests, please contact Coordinator Capital Works on 9286 6000.

Who is Eligible for GROH Housing? |
|
Our role at GROH is to provide and maintain housing. It is up to employing agencies to decide which employees are eligible to be housed in a GROH home and allocate properties amongst their eligible employees. However, under GROH's Eligibility Policy, there are some circumstances under which employees may not be eligible - for example, in the case where an employee or their spouse/partner already owns residential accommodation near the place of work. |

After Your Employee Moves In |
|
Remember to: Notify GROH prior to an employee occupying, to allow an ingoing inspection to be done Provide GROH with 21 days written notice prior to an employee vacating to allow outgoing inspections to be done Maintain the house and garden when the property is unoccupied Provide GROH with forwarding address / contact details when tenants vacate GROH property |
|
Your obligations as the employer: If unrelated employees share the accommodation that your agency has been allocated, whether they are only your employees or include employees from another agency, your agency is responsible for any damage or problems that might arise during the shared tenancy. Although your agency has responsibility for any damage or problems that might arise during the shared tenancy, all occupants should be made aware that they are still responsible for maintaining the property in a clean and tidy condition, including caring for the gardens. If an agency allocates accommodation on a shared basis, the agency is responsible for payment of water consumption costs. The agency that has been allocated the property is responsible for advising GROH when the property is being shared and when all occupants vacate the property, so that an outgoing property inspection can be conducted. |
